A bracelet that remembers what you said.
Remi listens through your day and turns what you say into reminders, calendar events and email drafts. Every word is encrypted before it leaves your wrist. I'm building it from scratch, from the circuit board to the AI.
In progress: day 5 of the build
You, at lunch
Jake, I'll send you the board files tonight.
Send Jake the board files
Due tonight at 9:00 PM. Remi can write the email for you.
Draft itA day with Remi
You talk the way you always do. Remi keeps track, and does something only when you ask with "Hey Remi."
-
“Hey Remi, when's my dentist appointment?”
Answers on your phone in seconds: Tuesday at 3:30 PM, from your calendar.
-
A class: one voice, a room full of people
Labels it as a class and keeps the notes: light reactions, quiz on chapters 6 and 7 on Friday.
-
“Jake, I'll send you the board files tonight.”
Catches the promise and nudges you at 7 PM. One tap writes the email.
-
“Hey Remi, add drivetrain test with Maya to my calendar tomorrow at 3.”
It's on your Google Calendar, with Undo if you change your mind.
-
Music, nobody talking
Notes "music playing" and deletes the audio. Song lyrics never end up in your day.
-
“Can you pick me up at six thirty instead of six?”
Knows it was a phone call: "Pickup moved to 6:30."
-
The end of the day
Sends your nightly digest: what happened, what you promised, what's coming up.
Your day, on your phone
Every conversation, summarized and searchable, with the exact words one tap away. These screens are from a demo day.

DayConversations, summarized, with what Remi did for each.
PromisesWhat you said you'd do, in your own words, with a nudge at the right time.
ActionsEvery event and draft Remi made, each with Undo.
Only you can read it.
Something that listens all day has to earn that. These rules are built into Remi, not added on top.
Encrypted on your wrist
Each clip is sealed on the bracelet before it's stored or uploaded. Only your own server holds the key, so even public Wi-Fi sees nothing.
It acts only when you ask
Remi does things only after you say “Hey Remi.” Nothing it overhears turns into an action.
It never sends
Emails become drafts in your Gmail. You read them and you press send.
Forget means forget
Say “forget that” and Remi deletes the audio, the words and everything made from them, including drafts and events.
Transcribed, not kept
Speech is turned into text with zero data retention, and audio is deleted after a week.
No lyrics, no TV
Music and shows with nobody talking are never transcribed.
The details are in the privacy policy.
A computer smaller than a matchbox
I designed the board myself in KiCad. Four layers and 47 parts, small enough to wear.
- ESP32-S3
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. One core listens while the other uploads.
- Wake-on-sound microphone
- A TDK T5838 that sleeps until someone speaks, to save battery.
- Its own "Hey Remi"
- A 93 KB wake word model made to run on the chip, trained on thousands of voices and tuned to mine.
- Onboard storage
- Clips wait safely on the bracelet until there's Wi-Fi.
- A buzz you can feel
- A vibration motor tells you Remi heard you, without looking.
- USB-C and a LiPo battery
- Charges like your phone.
Built in public, one day at a time
Every screenshot in the build log is real, taken the day it happened.
- Day 1Nov 2
Designing the board
A 4-layer board with an ESP32-S3 and a wake-on-sound microphone, laid out in KiCad.
- Day 2Nov 3
The backend goes live
Encrypted uploads, transcription, reminders and a nightly digest, running on Cloudflare.
- Day 3Nov 4
An app, firmware and a motor
A web app for my day, prototype firmware, and a vibration motor added to the board.
- Day 4Nov 5
Remi takes actions
Calendar events, Gmail drafts and answers. An instant "Hey Remi," tuned to my voice. Calls and music told apart from conversation. And a promise keeper.
